Mentorship

I provide mentorship to help clinicians feel confident, supported, and prepared to offer exceptional care — whether you are transitioning into practice or expanding your skills in a specialized area.

Early-Career Mentorship

Hit the Ground Running!

Mentorship may be required for licensing with the College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists of Manitoba (CASLPM). When applicable, I will guide you through the necessary documentation and ensure all requirements are met. Mentorship can also bridge the gap between graduation and your first role as a Speech-Language Pathologist, helping you transition smoothly into the profession.

Mentorship may include:

  • Case discussions and feedback on assessments, therapy plans, and clinical approaches
  • Problem-solving strategies for complex client situations
  • Practical tools and resources to support your day-to-day practice
  • Guidance for professional growth — from navigating workplace dynamics to pursuing continuing education
  • A reflective space to ask questions, explore challenges, and build confidence

Outcome: You feel supported in your development and equipped to provide high-quality, person-centred care.

Gender-Affirming Voice Care Mentorship

Jump-Start Your Care!

Designed for clinicians expanding their expertise in Gender-Affirming Voice Care. If you’re unsure where to begin, I can help you build a strong clinical foundation quickly — without having to reinvent the wheel.

Mentorship may include:

  • Guided case discussions and structured feedback on assessment, goal-setting, and therapy planning
  • Evidence-based strategies that support clients’ vocal goals while honouring identity and lived experience
  • Ready-to-use clinical tools, resource recommendations, and documentation supports
  • Support in developing inclusive service delivery and advocating for affirming care in your workplace
  • A collaborative space to ask questions, troubleshoot challenges, and grow confidence in your clinical reasoning

Outcome: You feel confident, prepared, and supported to provide high-quality, gender-affirming voice care.

Why Choose Me for Mentorship?

I have over 30 years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist, working in a variety of settings with clients of all ages — from newborns to seniors. This breadth of experience gives me insight into diverse client needs and clinical challenges.

I regularly supervise practicum students from McGill University’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. The skills I’ve developed as a Clinical Educator — providing guidance, feedback, and support — transfer directly to my mentorship practice, helping early-career SLPs build confidence and competence.

I have also offered mentorship in First Nations communities and in private practice, supporting clinicians in diverse settings and helping them navigate real-world clinical scenarios. I currently lead a weekly Canadian private practice discussion group, which has given me a broader perspective on private practice and the evolving needs of clinicians across the country.

In addition to general clinical mentorship for early-career SLPs, I offer specialized mentorship in gender-affirming voice care. This area requires both technical expertise and a deep understanding of the emotional and social dimensions of voice work. I help clinicians develop affirming, evidence-informed practices that honour each client’s goals and identity, and I provide support for building inclusive and respectful therapy environments.

I am especially proud that my former practicum student, Ethan Dziewirz (he/they/il), Speech-Language Pathologist, has sought me out specifically for mentorship in gender-affirming voice care, reflecting the trust and confidence clinicians place in my guidance.

How We’ll Work Together, Step by Step

From your first appointment to ongoing support, here’s what to expect:

Fill out the contact form below to let us know you're interested in mentorship, and to share your contact information with us so we can contact you to  discuss your goals, experience level, and the areas where you’d like guidance. We will book your first mentorship session together.

During your first mentorship session, we'll:

  • Talk about your current caseload or practice experiences
  • Identify your goals and areas for growth
  • Discuss strategies for immediate application in your clinical work

Think of this session as a safe space to ask questions and explore your professional development.

We will develop a personal mentorship plan based on your needs, schedule, and professional goals.

This may include:

  • Case discussions and feedback
  • Practical strategies and tools
  • Goal setting and progress check-ins

If mentorship is not required for licencing, we can also set you up to book mentorship sessions as needed.

Subsequent sessions usually include:

  • A quick check-in on recent cases or challenges
  • Supported problem-solving
  • Discussion of strategies to strengthen your clinical reasoning and confidence
  • Sharing of tools and resources
  • Support for reflection and professional growth
  • Paperwork if it is required for licencing

We’ll track your progress, adjust the plan as needed, and celebrate milestones along the way — helping you grow into a confident, capable, and reflective clinician.

Let's talk about mentorship!
